Spellbook Repair challenges students in grades K – 5 to correctly spell key vocabulary words sourced from curricula across the United States. Within the hallowed pages of magical spellbooks, some mysterious force has damaged the words in some of the spells. Students will be asked to tap the word, drag the correct missing letter or letters from the word bank, trace them, and then drag them to the word to fix it. Once all of the words in a spell have been repaired, the magic within the book can flow freely once more.
As the student rises in grade level, the difficulty rises. Kindergarteners will be taught the alphabet in the early chapters followed by basic words. By the time the player reaches third grade, cursive writing and reading is introduced. Not only does Spellbook Repair reinforce core vocabulary, it reinforces penmanship as well.
Each word is presented in the context of a spell, and if the player has a difficult time remembering the spell or figuring out the word, the definition of the word can be given as a hint, further developing knowledge of the vocabulary being explored.
Once the player has mended all of the spells in a chapter, they can tackle the Power Puzzles, a unique crossword-like mini-game where players will need to drag the right letters to the right places to solve the words, continuing to reinforce spelling knowledge of over 600 vocabulary words.
